My Trip to Montreal
It was very exciting to go visit my Aunt in Montreal. My first time to Montreal and going alone. I was loving that. Montreal is a beautiful city and I felt comfortable right away. The city had an easy going vibe about it. It made me feel good to be here. I found Montreal an easy city to navigate.
When I got off the plane in Montreal my auntie was waiting for me. It was late and the City was in lights. A bit too early in the season to see all the Christmas lights but some of them are starting to appear.
My Aunt Dory's apartment is as I imagined it, outside and inside. The way she has things in her home makes me feel like I'm at Grandpa and Grandma's place. Mismatched dishes, calendar full of writing, lived in feeling, I love it! I felt at ease right away.

My first morning at my Aunties was relaxing. I was on my own and I really enjoyed my alone time, it was needed. Her house is filled with Art and I loved looking at all the pictures. It's a bit like being in an art musuem. When Dory got home from work she took me for a drive to see the beautiful Mountain Montreal is built around. Its like being in a forest in the middle of the city. We went out in the evening for some wine and appetizers. Anatole, my cousin, joined us. It was a great evening. When we got back to Dory's we spent some time visiting. I expecially enjoyed our discussion on Mennonites and what the history is and what it means to be a mennonite. We agreed that we are a proud people and we work hard to be successful.

2nd Morning Nov.29th: Dory took me for breakfast at a very cute bakery in old montreal. I posted a pic of my cinnamon bun and coffee. I enjoyed hearing about Dory's schooling and travel experiences. After breakfast Dory drove me around old montreal to see the beautiful buildings. We visited a very old and beautiful Catholic church. We then headed back to Dory's for lunch and Anatole joined us. Later in the afternoon Dory took me to see a couple of art shows. I really enjoyed this. My first experience to see an art show. Later on for supper we walked to a nearby famous New York Style Deli. I love that everything is within walking distance from her home. We again spent a wonderful evening visiting and sharing our life stories.

Dec.1: Dory went to work this morning and I decided to enjoy the beautiful day. I went for a walk down St.Laurant St. It was enjoyable to slowly wander around checking out stores here and there. I find Montreal to be a friendly place. The City is easy to navigate and the people are nice.

Dory and I went out to see the Botanical Gardens when she arrived back at home, unfortuanatly they are closed on Mondays. We then went to a pastry shop on Laurin St. for a snack.
I had a great time with Anatole learning more about the Metro and how to get around Montreal. It cost 2.75 to ride the Metro for a one time ticket. It was very full when we went because it was the time when everyone was going home from work. It is amazing how many stores are underground in montreal and Anatole informed me Montreal has the biggest underground city food court in the world. This was my first experience on an underground travel system.
Dory and I had another wonderful evening visiting. She also showed me her garden area that she says I must come back and see in summer. She made a wonderful dinner. Curry Chicken with mustard butter and honey and Mixed veggies and rice. We enjoyed a cabernet sauvignon wine together. Got to bed early as we both were tired. Tommorow is time to head home.

Montreal is a wonderful place. I would recommend any one to go and visit. Maybe someday Ill get a chance to go back.
