Love and its connection to possession

When you care for a person only then can you let them go, instead of making them a possession. People want to make something theirs, when nothing really belongs to you.Know this if you cannot let go of something then you are in possession of it and it is property, that person is no longer their own person but your property, this is not love. Increase your compassion and love will flower all around you, increase your possessions and suffering will flower around you.
When you love someone, it is hard to let them go. But when you truly love them you want what is best for them and if that means letting them go, then that's what you do.
